What i remember the most of it was the exploration and the many ways of it, like in the water, or gliding through the sky. Thematically it wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad either, pleasantly grounded like the rest of pandaria. Loved the zone for catching up, and it was the right amount of content without being overwhelmed or overly grindy. Not until Suramar did Blizzard manage to create a zone that was able to deliver on the quality similar to Timeless Island, in my opinion. This was my exact experience. The effort put in gave you appropriate rewards. Grindy, but you could play the content the way you wanted to. Great zone layout with good pacing of the content. It was a very good place for social interaction as I recalled. PvP was also very fun because of the layout of the zone and the events that happened around the zone to create engaging points of conflict. Not to mention that there were no time gated stuff that prevented me from farming anything on the island with the exception of the typical rare spawn timers, so I could consume the content at my own pace without feeling dictated to on how to consume it. Shaohao rep may have been very grindy, but the grinding spots were well placed along with other areas to break up the grind. Even farming stuff like Huolon for the mount about 70-80 times (I was very unlucky lol) was bearable because I was constantly rotating through different types of activities which made the zone constantly engaging. There were plenty of rares and treasures that were in fact worth chasing if you were into collecting. You had currency to farm that you could upgrade your character constantly. doing the rest of the maw where people are more spread out was genuinly not fun.Īs someone who got to experience Timeless Island the last month before WoD launched and was hardcore farming that place, I can say with confidence that it was a great zone. killing hundreds of Alliance every wednesday as they grouped up in there 200 man raids to camp the entrance as a rogue with my arena partners was genuinly fun. if you compare it to any similar Catch-up Islands, they are all 10x larger, with less than 1/10th as usefull loot, as well as agressive sharding.Īs much as I hate the Maw, the one fun thing is the amount of people there and the World PvP. The island was full of Wpvp and bussing with life because of how insanely packed it was with actually good / usefull gadgets, as well as a really useful and easy World boss located in the center. wether its the fallen meteor, or it was the 300% XP pots. Many of the toys and gadgets are strong enough to actually kinda usefull. It has been an insane power level spot multiple times for boosting alts etc. It contained a Skip in WoD so u could skip the intro scenario with the secret blue bonfire. Because it added a lot of nieze shit that made the game easier / faster.
